Welcome to Briary Cottage

Briary Cottage is situated in a conservation area on the sea-front at Egypt Point, the northern most tip of the Isle of Wight. It has fantastic views across the Solent from the Purbeck Hills in Dorset to the west, to Portsmouth in the east. The cottage, which has recently been converted from a coach house, is a fifteen minute walk to Cowes famous for its sailing regattas, and a ten minute walk to Gurnard beach with its café, sailing club and public house.

All shipping heading to and from the port of Southampton turns at the buoy off the house giving wonderful views of passenger liners and other commercial shipping. Cowes is the centre of yachting in the UK and the cottage provides a perfect grandstand for watching the majority of these sailing events.

For those who enjoy fishing, at certain times of the year sea-bass can be caught from the sea wall in front of the cottage. There are breaks to surf, rock pools to explore and seafood to eat. But if the life aquatic is not for you, the Isle of Wight offers extensive and picturesque walking and cycling trails. There are enchanting churches and many small manor houses some of which are mentioned in Domesday. There are all manner of annual festivals from music to garlic. Alternatively, you could search for dinosaur fossils on a windswept beach in the morning and light the wood-burning stove, toast a crumpet and watch the seascape and red squirrels from the sitting-room window at Briary Cottage in the afternoon. We look forward to welcoming you.
